Duane has a John Deere 4710 self propelled sprayer. He is running an Outback guidance system for his GPS. He sprays his own crops and also does custom spraying.
Duane was spraying for a customer who had 330 acre field. “It was heavily terraced and also had a lot of grass waterways. It usually was coming up with about 375 acres on the acre counter on the sprayer. After installing the RINEX into the sprayer for switching automatically the booms on and off, the acre counter on the RINEX display was reading about 340acres, it changed it that much! The RINEX is turning it On way more accurate then I could ever do by hand. It takes so much of the tension out of spraying. It allows you to run the boom and keep it as level as possible. On my sprayer the section switches are over on the right side console and you always have to look over to find them and then you end up looking down to grab back on to the hydro stick. With the RINEX I can leave my hands to do the driving and the leveling of the boom, when you get into extremely hilly country that is a big help.”

“It really seems to save a lot on time. When it gets wet in the spring and everything needs to be done at once it helps speed things up.”
Nick is going to set his planter up for next spring with the Tru Count clutches, and add another RINEX controller for shutting off individual rows to avoid double planting and overlap on point rows. The Murdoch’s also have a floater that they use for putting down liquid fertilizer that may also take advantage of the RINEX automatic boom controller.
Duane said “one of the nice features of the system is that it is so universal. It will tie into my John Deere sprayer, my Outback, my Dickey John rate controller and soon into our planter.”
“It has been one of the better investments that I have ever made and has sure made things a lot easier.”
